Coffee, Smoke & Nostalgia
Sylvia Olivier of the Coffeesmoke blog issued a challenge yesterday asking bloggers to show what they wore in high school and share a short story. She specifically wanted to know, “Would your old self come back and kick your ass?”
I adored Terri Nunn of Berlin and yes… I was THAT person! My mother helped me dye my hair exactly like Terri Nunn’s (Platinum White with Black Tips), which promptly got me kicked out of Catholic High School! Woot! So I found myself for the first time in public high school and relished the freedom! My artistic side was obviously suppressed in Catholic school, and immediately after burning my school uniform, I cranked the Dead Kennedys and sported safety pins, leather jackets (until I went vegan of course,) combat boots and ripped clothes that made me mosh.
“Would your old self come back and kick your ass?” YES. I swore I would be a punk to the day I died!
